Plaza

Joe Whitney/Plaza split 7Plaza was a three-piece of the most ambitious nature.

It was just great pop music and Kooky fell in love with it. Parting with £75.00, and to quote Steve Lamacq, Breathing Space was recorded at Nigel from Dodgy's lavish home studio in his shed.

Fast forward to 2000 and from here three became two...

It's Jo and Danny was the brainchild of Jo Bartlett and Danny Hagan released their debut album Lank Haired Girl to Bearded Boy on their own Double Snazzy label. Rave reviews and daytime national radio play led to a worldwide recording contract with RCA.

In 2003, they founded the now well-established Green Man Festival in the Brecon Beacons in Wales.

Joe Whitney

Joe Whitney/Plaza split 7Joe Whitney was recommended to us Mick Harrison of Prolapse aka Ears go fff... He was the very distinctive drummer for The Flaming Stars, and his two solo tracks follow the dark 60's garage sounds.

Believing (foolishly) that artists are the best at promoting themselves we used to ask for assistance in PR. Joe dictated the strangest press release to us about denouncing the catholic faith at an early age.

The split single launch with Plaza was arranged at the Hope and Anchor. Joe called in favours, including another drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig (My Bloody Valentine) to perform to the "crowd" of forty or so.

Unisex

Unisex/Good Morning Canada split 7Stephen Lawrie and Jo Doran of Unisex were more commonly known as one half of The Telescopes.

Rising, phoenix-like, from their ashes TV Cowboy was a raucous punk/new-wave driven, bubblegum sweet pop.
